Why We Upgraded Our ERP Pricing Tool on ERP Software Blog with ProSize ERP

Did you know that the ERP Software Blog has had a Microsoft Dynamics ERP system pricing tool since 2009? We built it ourselves and called it the “Quick Quote” tool. It served our visitors well for a long time and we sent hundreds of leads to our members over the years. (Fun fact, someone at Microsoft actually paid us to put it on the site back then. Ask me about that story sometime over drinks at a conference).

The problem was keeping the Dynamics ERP Quick Quote pricing tool current. A tool like that needs constant care, and pricing, licensing, and capabilities all shift under you over the years. So we partnered with ProSize ERP to bring a brand new estimator to the site. Leads generated through it now get sent out to our regional members, and we're hoping to bring the same thing to CRM Software Blog in the future.
I talked to Shaun Els, the developer behind ProSize ERP, to talk about why this kind of pricing tool is so helpful for site visitors in the ERP software selection process. And the value for partners when they put it on their own websites too.
Give buyers a better option than “Book a Call”
Most ERP buyers today aren't ready to talk to a salesperson yet. They're in research mode. They've usually been told by their leadership to "go find us an ERP solution," and before they book any calls, they need a number they can bring back to that leadership.
The traditional Dynamics 365 Business Central partner website doesn't give them that. It gives them a form and a promise of a call. So the buyer either bounces, or they get on the phone with you way before they're ready, which means your team burns billable discovery time on someone who was never going to convert. Shaun estimated this kind of unqualified discovery eats up as much as 80% of the time partners spend on leads that go nowhere.
An estimator changes that process. The visitor answers a handful of questions (industry, capabilities they need, whether they want CRM bundled in) and gets a real low-high number back. No call required.
Why we do NOT ask for contact info first (even though you want it so badly)
This was the most interesting thing Shaun told me. ProSize's early version asked for contact information BEFORE showing the estimate. (I bet you are familiar with that from Instagram ads). That made sense to a marketer, we want the lead info locked in before they get their number, but users hated it.
Feedback from people testing the tool said it felt more honest to get the estimate first, then decide whether to hand over their contact details to get a more detailed quote (with license cost, timeline etc..).
So ProSize flipped it. Now the estimate comes first. And it turns out this is a better qualification filter than the old way ever was. If someone sees their number and still submits their contact info afterward, you know they're serious. You're not collecting names from people who bail the second they see a form.
Less leads are sent out, but they are better quality.

It's built to be specific, not a ballpark guess on the price of D365 Business Central
This isn't a flat "ERP costs $X" calculator. The fields change based on the buyer's industry, so a distribution company sees different capability options than a nonprofit does. It factors in who's asking (C-suite vs. management often signals different needs) and whether they want a CRM bolted onto the ERP quote. Right now it's Dynamics 365 Business Central specific across the board, since that's where all of ProSize's current partners operate.

How Dynamics partners can use the benchmark data from ProSize ERP
Every partner using the tool feeds into an anonymized data pool. That means you can see how your numbers stack up against the market. Are you pricing higher or lower than similar partners for the same capabilities? What's the average preview-to-lead conversion rate, and how does yours compare? Which industries are trending right now that you might not be marketing to yet?
Shaun mentioned nonprofits are having a moment in ERP shopping right now. That's the kind of thing you'd only catch by looking at aggregated data across a bunch of partner sites, not something you'd notice from your own traffic alone.
If you're a small to mid-market partner without the resources to build (or the volume to justify) your own pricing intelligence tool, this is data you otherwise wouldn't have access to at all.
What type of partner should use ProSize ERP
Shaun was clear that this isn't for everyone. If you run a fixed-fee model, you already have your pricing story and a calculator doesn't add much. And larger enterprise-level shops often have the resources to build something similar in-house.
Where it makes the most sense is small to mid-market partners, especially ones where marketing time is limited and every website visitor matters. If you're getting modest traffic and want to turn more of it into something usable, giving visitors an interactive tool instead of a "contact us" form tends to convert meaningfully better.
Of course, when you set up ProSize ERP on your own website, you get to customize all the options and pricing based on your business model.
The bottom line on an ERP Pricing Tool
This isn't a replacement for your sales process, your content strategy, or your SEO. It's meant to make everything else you're doing work harder.
A stronger call to action on your campaigns.
A reason for visitors to stick around longer on your pricing page (which search engines and LLMs both tend to reward).
A better opening line for your social content, pointing people to a real number instead of another "DM me" ask.
We added it to ERP Software Blog because our own visitors wanted exactly this: a way to self-qualify before talking to anyone. And a way for us to give those leads out to our members.
If your website's biggest ask right now is "schedule a call" or “book a demo” it might be worth rethinking that first step.
