How can you turn your videos into blog posts?

Typically, VAR and ISV partners have a library of videos to highlight their products and expertise: demo videos, explainer videos, on-demand webinars.

Storing these videos on YouTube is a start, but you’ll get more marketing power out of them if you also use them in blog posts. Google has confirmed that embedding video on a well-trafficked page is a ranking factor for getting that video into search results. Reason enough to give it a try.

Here are two ways to turn one into a blog post:

1. Write a summary and embed the video.

Write a summary of your video with bullet points, or write an article on a related theme, embed the video, and make watching the full video your call to action. This boosts the SEO of the page and the video itself, ranking higher on both Google search and YouTube. A well-written summary also entices more people to watch.

2. Use a transcription as your blog post.

The transcript of your video is full of keywords search engines love. Here’s how to put them to work:

  • Get a transcription of your video (use free tools or order from a company like Rev.com).

  • Ask Copilot to clean it up so it’s readable but not changed.

  • Write a strong title, a short introduction, and embed the video.

  • Add the line “Full transcript” and paste in the actual transcription text.

This creates a ton of indexable content for Google’s spiders. A professional transcript is also far more accurate than relying on automatic transcription to figure out the nuances of a video about technology and software.

Once you have a list of topics to write about, videos included, plus a strategy to make writing faster and easier, the next question is where to publish.

Joining a group blog is an inexpensive, effective way to get links and leads. Yes, leads too.

One of our VAR members told us she can trace $2 million in open pipeline in just the last 12 months back to ERP Software Blog.

Who doesn’t want results like that?
